Clay Center Library
The Clay Center Public Library has offered library service to the Clay Center Community for over 75 years. The building was built with funds donated by the Carneige Foundation. The Library has been certified by the Nebraska Library Commission. Internet connections, popular videos, best seller books, computer classes are some of the services available to card holders. The childrens library supports a strong summer reading program for elementary students. Books featured are the Golden Sower books, Accelerated Reader books, and many picture books. Service Organizations A 40-man Volunteer Fire Department, a 24-hour volunteer Emergency Medical Technician and Ambulance Service, an active Community Club, Senior Center, and the Mrs. CC's keep people involved in the welfare of the community. In addition, the community is also served by the Lion's Club, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, SAL, and numerous Extension Clubs. A town rich in scouting, Clay Center builds leadership in its youth with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies and 4-H Clubs. Religion Four denominations offer worship and community support to area residents. Within the area of Clay Center is The Clay Center Christian Church, the Zion Lutheran Church and the United Church of Christ. St. Joseph's Catholic Church is located seven miles away in Harvard. Health Care The Clay Center Community Medical Center is served by one doctor four days per week and a nurse practitioner one day per week. Three area nursing homes serve the community: Community Care of Edgar, (402) 224-5015; Harvard Rest Haven, (402) 772-7591; and Sutton Community Home, (402) 773-5557. Housing Clay Center is pleased to announce the development of (2) newer subdivisions for the creation of residential housing that could eventually accommodate up to 50 new homes.
